Barry Becker Obituary – Barry William Becker, “PINKY” 80, owner of JED Trucking & Warehousing and loving family guy, died on October 4, 2022 at his Morristown home with his family by his side. Barry Becker was born on October 22, 1941, in Newark, New Jersey, to parents Jack and Fanny Becker. Barry grew up in Maplewood, New Jersey, and went to Columbia High School before attending college in Boston.
He then joined the United States Army National Guard. Barry took over The Becker Motor Transportation Company after his father died unexpectedly. Barry grew the company and transformed it into JED Trucking and Warehousing, a conglomerate of logistics companies that operates throughout the Northeast.
He adored the summers in New Jersey and the winters in Florida. Barry was a member of Crestmont Country Club in West Orange for 50 years and Mirasol Country Club in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. Barry was also a member of Temple B’nai Abraham in Livingston, NJ, where he had been a member for 40 years. He was a member of the New Jersey Motor Truck Association and the New Jersey Food Council.
Barry enjoyed playing golf with pals anywhere he could across the world. He enjoyed traveling, jazz, Entenmann’s donuts, cigars, whiskey, and vehicles. His sense of humour and friendliness will be much missed. Barry is survived by his beloved wife Phyllis, adoring sons Jed Becker (Lisa), Todd Becker (Corinne), Drew Zimmerman (Michelle), and Eric Zimmerman (Katherine), and the mother of his children, Leslie Kowal.
Becky and Brandy Becker, his canine pals who have been with him for over a decade, also live. The ceremonies will be place at Temple B’nai Abraham in Livingston, NJ, on Friday, October 7 at 10:00 a.m. On Sunday, October 9, from 12 to 8 p.m., a memorial service will be conducted at Crestmont Country Club in West Orange, NJ.
