Bicycle equipment drive to be held | News, Sports, Jobs

By Matthew Shields

In observance of Bicycle Safety Awareness Month in May, American Medical Response Maui County is holding a donation drive of bicycle safety equipment from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.

People may donate helmets, wrist guards/knee pads and bicycles. Drop-offs may be made at AMR’s main base at 230 Hana Highway in Kahului.

All donations will be distributed to local schools throughout Maui County.

On Saturday, AMR crews will be educating the community on proper bike safety to those who stop by.

Brooklyn Calvan, an 11-year-old who was recently struck by a vehicle while riding her bike in Makawao, will be at Saturday’s event.
