UPDATE: CAL FIRE says the Hog Fire that was burning west of Susanville was fully contained on August 17.
CAL FIRE says the Hog Fire burning west of Susanville is growing in size and containment.
The 9,564-acre Hog Fire started ten miles west of Susanville in the Hog Flat Reservoir on July 18th. It's currently 98% contained and has destroyed two buildings.
CAL FIRE says 170 buildings were previously threatened.
CAL FIRE says all evacuation orders have been lifted with the exception of the Forest Service closures and restricted areas.
CAL FIRE says evacuation warnings remain in effect for: Lake Forest Estates, both sides of Highway 36 from A-1 to Willard Creek Road, junction SR-36 and SR-44 east to the A-1 SR-36 junction, including River Bench, Britt Lane, Thumper Hill Road and Ridge Top Road, west of the brake check area on SR-36 to the junction of SR-36 and SR-44, including residents by Phil Dow Road.
The Goumaz campground was also evacuated.
"So since the fire's out 60-70 miles away and off to the northwest we need a wind about 10 miles per hour or so that will push the smoke from the Susanville area down into the Reno area,” says Brian Brong, Meteorologist, National Weather Service in Reno.
