Jon Trasamar Obituary, Blue Earth MN, Former Gophers Teammate Has Sadly Passed Away

By Amelia Brooks

Jon Trasamar Obituary, Death – Sunday marked the second PGA Tour triumph for South African golfer Erik van Rooyen, who attended the University of Minnesota. The tournament was held in Los Cabos, Mexico, and was organized by the World Wide Technology Championship. In addition to sinking an eagle putt on the 72nd hole, he defeated Matt Kuchar and Camilo Villegas by two strokes on the back nine with a remarkable 28. Van Rooyen struggled to respond to the first question posed by an interviewer after he raised his fist and indicated to his caddy, Alex Gaugert, another former Gophers golfer, following the failure of the final putt.

George Savaricas of NBC inquired, “How did you manage to maintain such composure when the stakes were at their peak?” After pausing and wiping his face, Van Rooyen started to sob. “I apologize,” he expressed. “I was calm because there’s bigger stuff in life than golf.” Jon Trasamar, the best companion of Van Rooyen, is an additional former Gophers golfer. Trasamar has melanoma in stage 4. According to golf journalist Ryan French, Trasamar attempted to qualify for the PGA Tour at qualifying school last autumn. Following his failure, he visited a doctor, who diagnosed the cancer as having metastasized to his ribs. Doctors informed him in February, according to French, that his cancer had metastasized to his liver, back, vertebrae, and legs.

According to Van Rooyen, Trasamar has between six and ten weeks to survive. “If you look at my ball, we’ve got a little music note — it’s a little faded now — little music notes on there, and initials J.T., and that’s for Jon Trasamar, my best friend,” van Rooyen commented. “Due to his melanoma, his prognosis is bleak.” “Today, every shot fired was intended for him.” Furthermore, one gains perspective when competing for a purpose greater than the acquisition of a frivolous trophy. And ultimately, it was inconsequential whether I emerged victorious or defeated in this context. “In that kind of motivation, it makes no difference whether you make or miss your putts; who cares?”
