Mark Foster Obituary, Death – On November 9th, 2023, the world bid farewell to a true adventurer, Mark Stephen Foster, who peacefully passed away at his home in Southport, CT, at the age of 66. Mark’s courageous 14-month battle with brain cancer showcased the same tenacity and spirit that defined his remarkable life.

Mark was born in New Rochelle, NY, in 1957, to his parents, John and Claire Foster. From the very beginning, it was evident that Mark’s life would be one marked by a love for the sea and a passion for exploration. Growing up on the shores of Long Island Sound, Mark’s childhood was enriched by the joys of boating, setting the stage for a lifelong connection to the water.

An avid sailor and fisherman, Mark’s love affair with the sea became a defining element of his character. His passion for sailing was cultivated during his years at Tabor Academy, where he not only honed his skills on the sailing team but also established himself as a standout in the maritime world. These formative experiences laid the foundation for a life well-spent navigating the open waters.

After his time at Tabor Academy, Mark continued his academic journey at Tufts University, where he furthered his education and continued to pursue his love for sailing. The lessons learned both on and off the water shaped Mark into a person whose life was a testament to the principles of resilience, determination, and unwavering dedication.

Mark’s adventurous spirit and zest for life led him to explore various corners of the world, creating memories that would become cherished stories for his family and friends. Whether sailing under the open sky or casting a line into the depths, Mark found solace and joy in the great outdoors.
