Silver Springs Man Arrested for Theft of Heavy Equipment | News

On Tuesday, Lyon County Sheriff's Office Deputies were dispatched to Enterprise Way in Dayton Nevada for the theft of a Skid Steer from a construction site.

Deputies identified 42-year-old Silver Springs resident George Shepard as a person of interest in the theft.

Deputies requested the assistance of the Lyon County Sheriff's Office, Special Investigations Unit (SIU) to assist in the investigation.

Deputies and SIU Detectives responded to Shepard's residence in Silver Springs where more evidence was found linking him to the theft.

Later, Detectives found Shepard's car travelling into the desert towards an open sand pit area. He was detained there.

Afterwards, he led deputies to the stolen Skid Steer, and more evidence was found on scene and on Shepard.

He was arrested for Grand Larceny of a Motor Vehicle and Possession of Stolen Property.

Shepard was booked into the Lyon County Jail with a bail of $11,141.
