Want to refer friend to missionaries? Call 1-888-537-7700

A 24-hour, toll-free hotline to assist members to make missionary referrals has been established by the Church.

The toll-free number, 1-888-LDS-7700, (1-888-537-7700) will provide a quick response for members who wish to invite missionaries to visit their friends or relatives.Information needed is:

The name and telephone number of the person to be visited.

The name, telephone number and home ward of the member making the referral.

"Ward and stake leaders should inform members of this convenient, effective way of submitting referrals," states a letter from Church headquarters to priesthood leaders in the United States and Canada.

"Leaders may use ward bulletins, stake and ward directories, meetinghouse bulletin boards, or other means of communication to inform members of the toll-free number."

"When the member's name is associated with the referral, the person is much more likely to invite the missionaries in," said Elder Earl C. Tingey of the Presidency of the Seventy and executive director of the Missionary Department. "A high percentage of these people are interested."

He said the telephones are answered by missionaries at the Missionary Training Center in Provo, Utah, who contact by telephone the individual referred on the same day. "The missionaries are very kind on the telephone," he said.
