Elizabeth Cox Obituary, Death – Following a protracted battle with illness, Elizabeth “Betsy” Cox, who was 74 years old, passed away on Thursday, October 5, 2023 in Canandaigua. She leaves behind her sister, Ginny Pierce, who is married to Mel; two nieces, Diane Vigneri and Sarah Greene, who are married to Frank; one nephew, Brian Pierce, who is married to Stacey; three great nieces, Taylor, Madison, and Emma; and four great nephews, Carson, Seth, Mason, and Colin.

This woman is survived by her family. Elwood and Nathalie (Acheson) Cox welcomed their daughter Betsy into the world in Canandaigua. Betsy was their daughter. During her time in Canandaigua, she received her education and ultimately graduated from Canandaigua Academy in the year 1966. She received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Evansville, Indiana in 1970, and her master’s degree from Nazareth College in 2003.

Betsy is a graduate of both institutions. For the past three decades, she has been a teacher at Victor Central School, where she has shared her passion for art with her students. For a period of twelve years, Betsy served as an adjunct professor at Nazareth College. She devoted thirty years to the training and showing of Quarter Horses. Skating was a sport that Betsy enjoyed doing all around the United States and Canada.

She was a member of the First Congregational Church, where she participated in the preservation committee and sang in the choir alongside other members of the congregation. On Friday, November 3, at eleven o’clock in the morning, a memorial service honoring her life will be conducted at the First Congregational Church, which is located at 58 North Main Street in Canandaigua. Woodlawn Cemetery in Canandaigua will be the location of the interment. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the First Congregational Church Preservation Fund.\
